The Ice-Making Process
Water is sent to the chilled evaporator place and slowly begins to turn into ice. As the pure water molecules freeze, they naturally reject any foreign substances. Minerals, salts, and other impurities in the water are pushed out of the forming ice and remain in the unfrozen water and are directed into a collection point.
As new, fresh water is added to the system, the older water-now containing a higher concentration of impurities-is allowed to overflow and drain out.
This continuous replacement of a portion of the circulating water is a simple and effective way to remove impurities from the system. A closed waterway also ensures that additional impurities are not introduced to the water source.
When the water is completely frozen and ice forms, heat is used to slightly melt the surface of the evaporator plate where the ice is attached, allowing the ice to be released from the plate. Gravity causes it to fall into a dedicated storage bin, where it's ready to be used.
