We previously owned a True 3-door back bar cooler that looks almost identical to this one, only bigger (roughly 18" longer across the top, and 3 to 4" deeper); however, after a few years, and multiple attempts by the same independent repair company to fix the gremlins in our previous machine, the realization was made that we got a lemon. And of course, since the True unit was commercial grade, none of the work was covered. True wouldn't even send out one of their technicians at our cost, and hung the phone up on my significant other at one point when she was pleading with them for a solution (it didn't even matter that when we finished our basement, we dedicated a 220v line just for that refrigerator). I share that information for a reason. We just received this item less than a week ago, and our initial impressions are as follows:
1. The person I spoke with a few different times on the phone was patient, not pushy, and took the time to answer all my questions. There was a minor hiccup with delivery, as the delivery company was preparing to deliver the unit curbside, and I ordered white glove. This same person I spoke with got this cleared up in short order. Thus, Iron Mountain customer service is already a mile ahead of True.
2. The Iron Mountain unit is quieter than the True refrigerator. A pleasant surprise. It does not have a condensation pan to worry about emptying, and while smaller, it still holds plenty of pops. ;)
The corners of the door frames on the outside do not fit as flush as I'd like, although neither did the True's, but it doesn't impact performance.
3. Iron mountain offers a warranty on this unit. When we were researching larger back bar refrigerators, this was the only company we found that would offer a warranty on a unit this size, in a residential setting. Most others were either a flat out "no", or "well maybe--probably not". Some of the fine print that came with the other units even warned that one's home insurance could be null and void if their unit was placed in a residential setting.
4. The person I spoke with at Iron Mountain said that if there was any kind of repair work that needed to be done in the future, they would be happy to connect with the appliance repair company we are familiar with to do the work, while also at one point adding, "....We want our refrigerators to run, and run well."
5. There is one area that brought the rating down to four stars for us. The LED lighting is minimal. There is one short strip on the inside, at top of the middle door. This leaves the sides relatively dark, and especially the bottoms of the doors that flank the middle. Seems like putting a strip of LED lighting all the way across would take care of this.
Overall, we are happy with the unit, happy with Iron Mountain customer service, and encourage others to check them out.
